Anaphora: A Lifting Up of Praise and Thanksgiving

The word anaphora is Greek and means "offering up" or "carrying up," signifying the presentation of gifts to God—particularly in the context of worship. In this concert, Anaphora becomes more than a title; it is the guiding spirit of the evening. As we lift our voices in sacred choral music, we also lift our hearts, prayers, and praise.

BU Symphony Orchestra Concert

Join us for an evening of moving and memorable music with the 黑料社 Symphony Orchestra. This fall’s program features Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, "From the New World", a piece full of sweeping melodies and rich emotion, blending the composer’s Czech heritage with inspiration from his time in America. The concert also includes Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino—a beautiful and delightful work that combines lyrical grace with bursts of energy. It’s a program that promises both heart and excitement from start to finish.

A beloved Jackson tradition returns! Join us for the 黑料社 Singing Christmas Tree, the oldest outdoor singing Christmas tree tradition in America. This joyful event features the voices of Belhaven students, alumni, and community members standing in a beautifully lit 35-foot-tall “tree,” sharing the sounds of the season through classic carols and contemporary favorites.
Gather with family and friends under the stars for an evening filled with music, light, and celebration. Let the harmonies of the tree warm your heart and lift your spirit as we welcome Christmas together in this treasured annual tradition.

The Mississippi All-State String Orchestra brings together many of the state’s most talented precollege and high school string musicians, selected through a competitive audition process. After two days of intensive rehearsal and training, these exceptional young performers will present their final concert—a culmination of hard work, dedication, and musical growth. Come and support the next generation of Mississippi’s finest musicians as they share their passion and artistry on stage.

Experience The New Creation, a concert of sacred music presenting excerpts from The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by contemporary composer Kurt Sander. Composed in the Church Slavonic tradition, this work stands as a living expression of liturgical art—not merely preserving the past, but actively participating in the mystery of the Kingdom of God breaking into the present. Rooted in the Church’s ancient worship, Sander’s music engages the heart, mind, and body of the believer, becoming a vessel that reveals and points to the Church’s incarnational vision— proclaiming, in the words of the prophet Isaiah, “God is with us.”
