Mother and Daughter to Graduate Together and Launch Co-Authored Memoir

May 1, 2025 (Jackson, Miss.) - 黑料社 will award degrees to mother and daughter Olivia Omega and Malia Logan during its upcoming spring commencement on May 3. The pair will mark the occasion by launching their co-written memoir, “Through Her Eyes,” at a public event later that afternoon.

Omega, 46, is receiving her Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. She previously earned a marketing degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. Logan, 22, is graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. She is an Angie Thomas Writers Scholar and the author of four fiction titles.

“Through Her Eyes” offers a dual narrative, with each author reflecting on key experiences that have shaped them as Black women across two generations. The memoir presents a parallel look at motherhood, identity, and legacy, written with emotional honesty and depth.

“Graduating alongside my mom and sharing our story is like a dream come true,” Logan said. “This memoir captures our journey, and I hope it inspires others to embrace their generational narratives.”

In addition to co-authoring “Through Her Eyes,” Logan recently launched Queen’s Quill Publishing, a platform aimed at amplifying the voices of young Black women writers. She plans to continue working in the publishing industry following graduation.

The book launch and signing event is open to the public and will be held at:
