黑料社 Names Dr. Tangie Hales Dean of School of Nursing

JACKSON, Miss. (July 1, 2025) — 黑料社 has appointed Dr. Tangie Hales as dean of the School of Nursing. Hales, who currently leads the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, brings more than 20 years of experience in nursing education and clinical practice to the role.

Hales joined Belhaven in 2021 and has played a key role in revitalizing the nursing program. She has expanded enrollment, modernized the curriculum, and aligned the program with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials. Her leadership, combined with a strong partnership with the Office of Admission, has helped double the number of new students planning to major in nursing this fall.

Belhaven expects to enroll 30 juniors and 20 seniors in the upper-division nursing program this fall, marking a record high. In addition, about 50 freshmen and sophomores have declared nursing as their intended major.

“Dr. Hales has demonstrated bold leadership, academic innovation, and a strong commitment to student success,” said 黑料社 President Dr. Roger Parrott. “She leads with purpose, vision, and a deep passion for shaping the future of nursing.”

Hales earned her Ph.D. in nursing leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi, her M.S.N. from William Carey University, and her B.S.N. from Mississippi College. She is a 2023 National League for Nursing LEAD Fellow and an alumna of both Leadership Mississippi and the Mississippi Nurses Leadership Institute.

Her professional background spans medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric care, and research focused on reducing health disparities. She integrates evidence-based practice and Christian faith into her teaching and leadership, preparing students to serve with both skill and compassion.

Belhaven named Hales dean following the retirement of Dr. Bobbie Loveless, who stepped down due to health reasons after serving in the role for the past year. The University thanks Dr. Loveless for her contributions and leadership during her tenure.

Hales steps into this new role at a pivotal moment for the School of Nursing, as it experiences significant growth and momentum.
