The Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) prepares students to lead, apply, and manage AI initiatives across industries. The Master of Science in Data Science prepares technical experts to build and analyze advanced models through coding, statistics, and machine learning.
In contrast, the Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence equips leaders to strategically implement and manage AI tools within organizations.
While the Data Science degree emphasizes programming and quantitative analysis, the Applied AI degree focuses on executive decision-making, productivity, ethics, and innovation in the AI-driven workplace.

Enrolling in the Online AI Program: What You Need to Know
- To enter this program, you must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college. A 2.8 cumulative GPA from undergraduate work is required for admission. You may also be admitted by showing nine hours of graduate work with a “B” or better in each course.
- Up to six hours of accredited graduate work may be transferred if a “B” or a better is earned in each course.
Conditional Admission: Applicants who do not meet the regular admission requirements but show the potential for success in a program may be considered for admission. Conditional admission may be granted based on the decision of the admission committee.
Applying to Belhaven’s online programs is quick and easy. We’ll need a couple of supporting documents — things like transcripts from any other school you’ve attended. When you have gathered those, just complete our online application form.
